About Time

About Time (2023) by Bonnie Wong and Jun Wang is a reflective artistic work that emerged from their winter residency at the Aranya Art Centre. This project involved meticulous observations of the natural world and the use of cyanotype printing to capture the essence of the season's light and forms. The process allowed them to create photographic impressions that serve as self-portraits of both the artists and the Aranya landscape.

The work features long exposures that transition from night to day, emphasising the gradual changes in light—a metaphor for the passage of time. The sunrise serves as a reminder of time's relentless march, contributing to the overarching theme of a "vacuum of time."

About Time is a visual exploration comprising 16 short essays written in the same year, reflecting on the rhythms and traces left by the landscape. The combination of imagery and written word offers a view of their experience and artistic interpretation of time and nature, culminating in an exhibition at the Seaside Library. This project highlights the intimate relationship between art, observation, and the natural world.

Digital print (Indigo), loose-leaf book with 16 separate pages of short essays. Edition of 100.
